- Health and Character- Both you and any family members applying with you must meet the health and character requirements. Non-migrating family members might also need to meet these requirements.

- Australian Values Statement- If you're 18 or older, you must read (or have explained to you) the "Life in Australia" book and sign an Australian Values Statement.

- Balance-of-Family Test-You must meet this test, which requires at least half of your children and stepchildren to be eligible children, or there should be more eligible children than children living in any other single country.

- Debt- Any debt owed to the Australian Government by you or any family member must be paid back or have a formal arrangement in place.

- Visa History- Your immigration history will be considered. If you've had a visa cancelled or application refused, you might not be eligible.

- Child's Best Interest- The visa will not be granted if it's not in the best interests of an applicant under 18.
